In part one and two of this blog series, we’ve discussed what you should look for when hiring a digital marketing agency, as well as red flags to watch out for. In part three, we’ll explore the topic of technical support. ThinkBIG Marketing CEO and Director of Marketing Lawrence Trujillo joins us again to talk about this subject in detail.
Q: What exactly do you mean when you say a digital marketing agency should provide technical support for a business?
A: There are a variety of technical aspects of building a website, running Google Ads, or doing any kind of digital marketing campaign, including but not limited to:
- Implementing metadata
- Utilizing H tags and proper content organization
- Internal linking
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
- Managing images to adjust on mobile and desktop
A detailed marketing agency would have plans in place to ensure your website and campaigns are running smoothly and being maintained over time.
Q: So what are some technical support red flags business owners should watch out for?
A: Technical support is an ongoing process; your digital marketing agency would develop a process to regularly maintain your website, updating WordPress/Shopify, and monitoring industry trends and standards. A lot of technical support goes into the creation of a website, but the website maintenance that follows is just as important. It is a red flag if your digital marketing agency does not complete the tasks listed above and/or they do not regularly perform website maintenance.
Q: What advice would you give business owners who do not have as much experience with website creation and maintenance? What is necessary for a good website?
A: A little bit of research goes a long way. Our ThinkBig Marketing blog has many great articles that will give you insights into the behind-the-scenes process of good website design and marketing campaigns. Additionally, your digital marketing agency should be happy to help answer any questions you have about technical support. If you don’t know what metadata is or how featured images work, our team is ready to share our expertise on the subject.
In the upcoming fourth and final part of this blog series, we will discuss what you should look for in a digital marketing agency when it comes to marketing strategy and support.
